The 2010 Starboard iSonic (Dur-x Wood) windsurfing board is for freeride or slalom use.
The iSonic has become a force to be reckoned with in the Slalom and Speed arena taking most of the titles available over the last few years, which is quite an accolade when achieved using stock production boards. With the likes of World Cup dominating Bjorn Dunckerbeck and Antione Albeau on the R&D team anyone after the best board for Speed or Slalom need look any further. This World beating design utilises Starboard's maximum efficiency concept which is a proven design around which the end user receives a board with a huge wind range, maximum top end speed, exceptional acceleration on to the plane and out of gybes together with breathtaking overtaking performance - essential elements for any board in this genre.
What's new for 2010?
There are a few changes for this year, these are:
1) The rails have been given a harder edge at the back of the board, improving water release as the board accelerates on to the plane, out of gybes or up to maximum speed in strong gusts
2) New cutaway shapes, which have been the result of extensive R&D work to provide improvements in the effieciency of the planing surface
3) The Wood Carbon iSonics are only available for the larger size boards, with the construction being split into two groups. The iSonic 94, 101, 111 are built with a carbon deck and a wood bottom for stiffness and control as they will be used in mainly medium wind strengths. Then the 121, 131 and 144 use carbon both on the deck and bottom, providing better performance in lighter winds.
4) As no fin is supplied as standard with the board it is important to ensure that you have suitable Tuttle box fin or purchase the board with one of the Drake Slalom Pro fins listed in the drop down boxes below.

These boards are also available in Starboard's Dur-x Wood Carbon construction, which Dur-x Wood Carbon, carbon biax deck, the lightest construction, maximum stiffness, wood spine and Australian wood pine base.
