The Simmer Blacktip new windsurfing sail is for freestyle and wave use.
The new Blacktip is designed and developed by Tomas Persson in close collaboration with Klaas Voget to suit the new attitude within wave sailing. With its compact outline, progressive step leech and new rectangular batten construction, Blacktip epitomizes this attitude.
It has evolved together with more compact wave boards to provide more drive and maneuverability. For these reasons, the Blacktip will be Voget’s weapon of choice in his battle for the world title.
This is what Klaas Voget G-4 had to say about the new design, “The new 4 batten Blacktip is designed to match the latest development of new school waveriding and freestyle. It has a very light, compact and forgiving feel, but still keeps the draft in place, due to it’s intelligent profile placement. The Blacktip has a constant drive that keeps you moving, even if the wave doesn’t have a lot of push. If your timing is less than perfect, the Blacktip still gives you the maneuverability and power to adjust your moves."
- A versatile wave / freestyle sail which generates the speed and maneuverability and drive to get it on in the waves while still having the feather light feel you need in sliding maneuver
- Low end power for early planing, high cut foot combined with relatively short boom for maneuverability
- Superb ability to de-power in the critical moment of a maneuver and very forgiving handling characteristic
- High material specification; Q-ply, Kevlar perimeter, MOnofilm 175, Kevlar stretch control tendon and 5 mil coloured X-ply
- Better suited to RDM masts, but does also work on SDMs
