2011 Starboard Flare Wood Carbon

The Starboard Flare Wood Carbon new windsurfing board with the option to include a free board bag is for freestyle use.

The new fluorescent Flares, the freestyle family returns with a striking new livery. Along with the new colour scheme there is a new size in the Flare 116 and Starboard reintroduces the classic shape in the Flare 88.

The test team comprising Taty Frans (PWA 2010 Vice Champion), Kiri Thode (PWA 2010 3rd), Dieter Van Der Eyken (EFPT 2010 7th) Sarah Quita Offringa (2008, 2009, 2010 PWA Freestyle Champion), Nicolas Akgazcyan (EFPT 2010 Vice Champion) and Mattia Pedrani, together with the design team lead by Tiesda You and Sven Akerboom have produced five versatile models for fast, fun freestyle.

The Flare Design: the Flares are freestyle boards that aim to blend speed and power with maneuverability, ease-of-pop and control. The speed and power comes from the fast, flat rockerlines with lots of width in the midsection and tail. A smooth tail kick, a thin nose, a thin midsection profile and a thick tail volume bring in the maneuverability, the ease-of-pop and the forgiveness to finish moves. With the unique heel gutters shaped into the deck, your feet wrap around a curved ergonomic shape for maximum comfort and total control. Fast, fun and forgiving these are the World's most advanced and lightest freestyle boards in the market today.

The UK's Boardseeker.com online magzine said, "The Flare is the best board in this group for general blasting around and bump and jump. It feels very light and stiff underfoot, the domed deck is unique and absolutely brilliant. A combination of a wood spine and wood bottom combined with an ultra light flat weave carbon. The first board construction in the World to utilize an ultra light carbon fibre that is flat weaved for total mechanical efficiency at half the specific weight of regular carbon weaves.

ProTECT - UV protective film all 2011 Starboard Wood Technology boards come with a new protective film that covers the exposed wood area of the deck. This film protects the wood from harmful UV rays to maintain the beautiful wood look. It also improves the bond between the non slip clear coat and the board to make the non-slip more durable.
