The Starboard iSonic Wood new windsurfing board is for freeride and slalom use.
The iSonics are Starboard's slalom boards. They are fast racing machines designed for the highest top speeds, the highest average speeds, the quickest accelerations with powerful overtaking abilities throughout a wide wind range.
The two smallest sizes are most narrow and shaped specifically for high wind conditions. The five middle sizes are compact designs for maximum performance across a wide wind range. The two largest sizes are extra-wide designs emphasizing lightwind performance and heavier riders.
Super fast and super efficient boards, they provide the highest average speeds, the quickest acceleration and fastest jibing speeds. Some recent competitive achievements:
PWA Overall Slalom Champion 2011 men
PWA Overall Slalom Champion 2011 women
PWA Vietnam Winner 2011
PWA Korea Winner 2011
PWA Aruba Winner 2011
PWA Turkey Winner 2011
- The new tail cut outs are designed to reduce the length of the wetted surface area and increase it's aspect ratio, delivery lift with less overall drag
- Reduced rail thickness in the nose shifts the volume and C of G back in the board for further control
- The profile of all the iSonic range is extra thin for maximum control and wind range
- The deck includes a scooped out concave for further C of G reductions
- Bixaial carbon deck is extra strong and gives improved protection from impacts and absorbs more vibration
- Two levels of miniwingers helping to release the water that travels along the leeward rail at high speed

Developed by Jean Louis Colmas in 1984, Wood Technology has become one of Starboard's trademark constructions since 1995. Their production Wood boards have since then set the lead in lightweight sandwich technology weighing in at a kilo under the competition and yet seemingly with a higher impact resistance.
A sheet of 0.6 mm Australian plantation pine wood forms the full outer shell of these boards. The wood's unique properties are its natural rigidity, superior resistance to compression and higher energy absorption compared to carbon. To this day it is still the construction with the highest dynamic shape stability.
Advantages: lighter weight, highest dynamic shape stability, rigid flex, quicker response
ProTECT - UV protective film all 2012 Starboard Wood Technology boards come with a new protective film that covers the exposed wood area of the deck. This film protects the wood from harmful UV rays to maintain the beautiful wood look. It also improves the bond between the non slip clear coat and the board to make the non-slip more durable.
